So the starting orders for the first JGP are up and there will be at least lots of men's footage, IceNetwork has confirmed they're streaming everything NBC isn't bothering with (my kingdom for some bandwidth!), and it looks like the new season is officially beginning. A few random wishes:
Tanith and Ben win the World title. Or at least perform that Falling Slowly number somewhere where we can get a decent clip of it.
Johnny and Yu-Na also win. Or least perform together again at some exhibition or other(Grand Prix Finale! You know the audience will scream for them.)
Chris Mabee makes Worlds. Or at least Four Continents.(I like him. I can't help it).
Melissa and Denis show up at some point. Or at least debut that sexy new threesome number with Johnny they've apparently been working on at some point or other.
NBC gets a clue. Or at least doesn't erase the existence of pairs entirely. |

So the Olympics are over, and all of the suddenly the first JGP's about the start, and French TV is showing it, and possible even streaming it online! But today I had another fannish obligation to discharge, and I made my way through to the Hoffman to see Clone Wars. Thankfully missed the pre-show, sat through the previews(including Harry Potter!), the title moniker appeared-and then the fire alarm went off and the movie stopped. Turned out they were testing the alarm system. Why they needed to do that in the middle of the afternoon I prefer not to know. Then we had to wait a few minutes for the movie to resume. ( By then my expectations were so low... ) |

As a music geek I must say... I loved the arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner I've been hearing this past two weeks. I was expecting to get sick of watching random podium ceremonies, but I couldn't when hearing that. Much more beautiful and stirring than the version I've been hearing watching footage of figure skating podiums. But to hear a composer was plagiarized for it....well, I suppose that's all you can expect given the people who have actually been running these pretty games. And as for the claim that it's not macho enough, well, I hope the organizers in Vancouver ignore that nonsense and borrow it for their own games(with proper credit given, of course). I want to hear it with Johnny on top of the podium at least once and you know the USFSA ain't going to be submitting it to anyone for use.(And wouldn't that be if a laugh if Evan won and then had to deal with it!) Current Mood: geeky |

I have officially lost count of how many mornings in a row the kittens have tried to barge in on mom and dad in the morning. |

Major to dos about a certain pair of interviews this week. I have made multiple phone calls, dressed up and had my hair bunned and sprayed, the works. The results so far? Well, the less said about them, the better. Going to see one last opera at Wolftrap Barns tonight. |

Back Spent a week up in New York watching the Olympics since we don't have cable here at home, made the mistake of falling for Roger Federer(if only he hadn't reminded me so strongly of Stephane in the opening ceremony) and getting bummed out when he lost. There were also three operas and a musical connected with a Shakespeare theme, done by the Glimmerglass Opera, which has amazing singers but could have made better choices; when done right Handel's Julius Caesar is magnificent, but Kiss Me, Kate is starting to show the first signs of being dated, Bellini's Capulets and Montagues has great music but little else, and Wagner's Ban on Love lacks even that (interesting to a Wagnerite, but I'm not really one of those). Off to check the tennis doubles results and shower now. |
